Default Capatcha anti spam filter - do you bother?

OK, so I'm finally doing it setting up my website and wonder how you guys deal with spam. Is capatcha worth using, are there any alternatives, or do you just have to live with tons of spam when you get people to sign up to your website.

    Feedback wanted please.

    Cheers
    xx

They're probably quite effective in fending off robots Jules, but I can never get them right first time and am often on the verge of abandoning a purchase. Dennis.

I wondered that myself, which is why I asked.

So, do any of you that have websites just use a signup for newsletter thingie and hope that you don't get zillions of spam then?

You could use mailchimp, which does a pretty good job IMO.
