Default Gold Pouring/Lost Wax - Need Help!

    Hey all!

I'm going for my first lost wax project. I've managed to create a suitable rubber mold and I've gotten to the wax shaping stage - just about ready to fill the investment. My problem is, I don't have a centrifuge or vacuum kiln.

Will this work with just a gold pour?

I'll be melting a mixture of 10 - 24k scrap gold to pour in

Should I attached more burrs? Did I choose bad positions for the existing ones?

Any advice would be GREATLY appreciated!

(If you're curious, it's the bottom half of a zippy lighter case)

Might I suggest pouring in silver first ?
Is there a reason you suggest silver first?
Does silver flow better than gold?

Sorry for the dumb questions but my only experience is YouTube videos and a single silver pour a while back.

I'm not against it, but I did put quite a bit of time & effort shaping this particular wax model.

Silver is easier to cast yes but more importantly I was thinking it wouldn't be wasting gold if you get it wrong.
Of course you can recast if you get it wrong but it will alter the gold structure if you have to keep recasting.

Just checking; out of interest, did you mean Sprues?
