    Default Broken box clasp

This is aimed at Peter mostly. Peter, today a customer brought her silver watch with a broken box clasp, the spring part. Before fabricating a new spring, is it worth trying to laser weld or puck the spring with a slice of silver to add strength?
    Thanks

I probably wouldn't - you'll end up with a heat-affected zone (small, but still there) on a part that's being flexed & work hardened further. It'd hold fine for a while, but it'll fail faster than fabbing a new spring and welding it in place (no flexing where it's welded in). I like my springs even hardness all the way through...
