Default Theme Competition February 2016 - Love and Romance

    Hello Everyone,

As February is the month of love with Valentine's Day falling on 14th February, we thought this month it would only be right that the theme for February's forum competition be LOVE AND ROMANCE.

You could submit a commission that you have made recently or even a piece that you have in mind for your own someone special, whether that be a significant other, family member or friend - feel free to interpret the theme however you want!

The winner will get a £100 Cooksongold shopping spree - submit your design on this thread by midnight, 29th February to enter.

    Good luck!

    Terms & Conditions:

The closing date for the competition will be at midnight GMT 29.02.16.

The judging will take place on 01.03.16. The following criteria are used to determine the winner: design, the technique used and the overall finish of the piece. The Cooksongold judging panel will make the final decision.

The winner will be announced and notified via the forum by 04.03.16. The winner must redeem their shopping spree (up to the value of £100 excluding VAT) using their own Cooksongold account and within 2 months of receiving their winner notification email.

In the case of the winner's shopping spree exceeding the value of £100 (excluding VAT), the winner is liable to pay for any amount over the value of £100.

The competition is open to all Cooksongold customers aged 18 years and over. Only one entry per person.

Employees of Cooksongold, their agents and families are excluded from the competition together with any person connected to the competition.

To enter the competition, simply comment on the relevant forum thread with a photo of your themed design. No correspondence will be entered into.

All designs submitted must be the original work of the individual submitting them and must not infringe the rights of any other party. Cooksongold reserves the right to contact an entrant for further clarification if necessary.

Cooksongold reserves the right to disqualify any entry if it has reasonable grounds to believe you have breached any of these terms and conditions.

In submitting your design, you give your permission for it to be included in any marketing or any other promotional material connected with this draw, and for Cooksongold to upload your design to Instagram and Pinterest if it is chosen as the winner. Ok so I'll start. My piece is a bookmark of two lovers. I love books and I love this bookmark. I made it on a whim just cause I wanted to saw something (I know it's weird but I love sawing) and I think it shows the story book couple we all read about and swoon hope you like it.

(The colors are a reflection but I wish I knew how to paint them on the metal. If you have any advice I would be very grateful)

Well, here goes. My first entry ever into a competition. Reticulated and granulated heart pendant. I've had a few attempts at reticulation (thanks Lydia, for your online tutorial!) with varying degrees of success but I do love the textures you get when it works. This was pierced from a piece of 1.00mm sheet and measures roughly 20mm x 25mm. I added the balls of silver at the last minute to make the heart more interesting. Was in two minds about whether to use the platinol but I'm glad I did - I think it adds depth to the 'landscape'.

This is the first time I have entered. I have not been making jewellery that long ... I paint and sculpt hares all the time, so of course I had to put them in my jewellery! ... 'Hares Kissing in the Moonlight' ... this pendant emanates the essence of love, fertility and abundance with the moonstone crystal as the moon to further boost this with ‪‎love‬ and ‪passion‬ as well as good fortune. It is 4.5cms all round and weighs 20.83g.

    I hope you like it!

Hi, another first time competition entry and first thing I've made for a while.

Made for someone special and cast from cuttlefish collected from underneath Brighton's west pier. We had our first holiday together in Brighton and our hotel balcony looked out over the pier.

I like that the cuttlefish casting is unique and won't be replicated, but wish it wasn't quite so hit and miss - four goes before I got something I was satisfied with and a few more scorch marks on the workbench!
