    Default 19ct Ultra White Gold

I have just received my new catalogue from one of my suppliers here in NL and they appear to stock a new alloy; 19ct Ultra White gold. This alloy appears as rhodium plated white gold; shiny, bright & white, without the maintenance. Zinc replaces the palladium with a percentage of nickel that is mixed in a way so that the nickel remains locked inside the alloy, offers no health issues and complies to EU regs. Is anyone aware of this metal, used it, any info to offer?

    Thanks,
    Les.

That's what I thought, I'm off to their open day end of the month so will see what all the fuss is about.

Interesting to find out, had to check it wasn't April already.

Presumably it can only get stamped as 18ct anyway?

For sure only 18ct stamping. I love the natural grey colour of white gold but for those who create engagement rings and it removes the need for plating every 6 months, it is cheaper than platinum, there could be a market.

I thought plating was originally to help polish those difficult to get at places, I hate rings plated all over as it looks patchy in no time.
Better off just keeping rings as they come.
Sounds like an American invention, like a lot of tools & burrs that you don't ever need.
