Don't think you are allowed to damage or change or otherwise alter coins? Or is that current coinage?
You could point out that Steve Collins would have answered you via this forum but some clod has made him redundant.

I think a phone call to the assay office would be the best bet in the circumstances and i suppose coin piercers must have the same problem, if i can get a firm answer i'll post it here in case others need to know
