It’s The Thought That Counts.
One morning in July, I woke up to find I was seeing double. Panic ensued, but the eye man was quite sanguine about it. ‘You’ve got IVth nerve palsy’, he said, ‘there’s no treatment. It will get better on its own. Takes about six weeks’.
Well I’m only just coming out of it, but the day was saved by a lovely optometrist, Liz, who fitted my glasses with a temporary prism so that I could go on working and monitored my progress with charts, as in my pictures.
So it seemed appropriate to make her little souvenir. For this little one inch brooch I used part of her signature and an eye with a Swiss blue topaz. There were problems connecting the letters and this is the solution I chose. It’s not ideal, but they say it’s the thought that counts.
The reverse by accident, shows a galactic stick man. Dennis.

That's stunning Dennis, and what a kind, thoughtful gift! I'm sure it will be very much appreciated.

Lucky Liz
(and poor you Dennis - I hope it continues to get better quickly now).

What a lovely thought! I'm sure she was grateful for that.. how weird for you to wake up like that though!

I have only one eye Dennis, had a cataract operation that got an infection in behind the eye, so after a month of being in excruciating pain and in hospital for over a month they had to take it out. That was five years ago and I still drive and since losing the eye now make minute silver jewellery, bit hairy sometimes doing soldering but hey ho we have house insurance.

This is awesome and thoughtful! Hope you are well soon.
