    Thanks, I should've taken pictures in progress I think. Perhaps I'll attempt it again sometime as I think I can correct what went wrong next time around.
    The stone (moonstone) is set the usual way with silver bezel strip soldered in place. It might be hard to tell by the angle of the picture. And actually looking at the picture now I can see it's not a very good or clear picture at all, it really does look much nicer in person!

    I guessed that must be it, but I couldn't see the bezel because of the angle of view and maybe also the oxidised finish - though I'm sure that's a sign of skill when the setting itself isn't too prominent, just working to the show the stone off.
