This month I set out to stretch myself and it certainly has been quite a steep learning curve. My entry is based on childhood memories of summer day trips out. We rarely went to the seaside as my father thought sitting on the sand "doing nothing" was a waste of money. So on the odd occasion when we did go, my brother and I spent our time collecting shells, squelching seaweed through our toes and exploring rock pools.
So here is my rock pool, peer into it to see a little crab, starfish, limpets and a couple of small fish swimming through the seaweed with a labradorite stone adding colour, depth and reflection. The crab, starfish, limpets and fish were pierced from fine silver to avoid fire scale and provide a polished contrast to the darkness of the rest of the piece. The chain I made to go with it is intentionally short as I wanted the pendant to sit high up on the neckline.
I had a lot of fun making this and it brought back lots of happy memories.
