Coloured Silver Finishes
Hello everyone,
I recently saw a selection of Nomos watches in a local shop and was struck by how beautiful the various colours of watch face were.
According to the manufacturer’s website they’re ‘galvanised silver’, I took this to be a (German-English) translation for electro-plating or anodising, but the finishes don’t look like anything I’ve seen before.
If you google 'nomos coloured dials' you'll see what I mean.
I suppose being encased behind glass allows them to do things which would perhaps be too delicate to work normally because they’re protected from touch.
Does anyone know how this finish is achieved, and how they get such lovely soft colours? From looking around different electro-plating or anodising companies, it's a case of gold/silver/rhodium, with no option of variations such as yellowy silvers, or virtually paper white silver, or pinky rose-golds.
