If you want to fuse, then you want a plain door, but if you want to make beads, then you need a bead door.

I now do pretty much everything in my little beadcube, which is really designed for annealing beads, but is hot enough to do enamelling and to fire pmc, and has a tiny footprint (and a much smaller price too). British made as well, which I like a lot, and a the controller is in a separate unit, which seems to make it less vulnerable.

It's a lovely little piece of kit:

Kilncare a a fab company to deal with, and carry the full efco range as well.

But if you are happy to batch anneal your beads, then a bead door is not necessary, which gives you more options if you want a multi purpose kiln.

Absolutely right, but batch annealing only works up to a point (and was the main reason I sold my SC2, which was plain doored). Anything of any size really does need garaging, which is what made the cube such a good option. I'd consider getting another dedicated kiln for other stuff if I did a lot of it, but I seem to have enough going on at the moment! As with so many things, kilns seem to work best doing the job they're intended for.

I liked my paragon, but I absolutely LOVE little Eric the cube. He and Lucinda (my very small dual fuel torch) make such a nice couple.....

I've got an SC2 with a bead door. I've never used the bead door but you never know. I'm very happy with it.

aw, now I'm all confused! If I got the little bead cube - which is very attractive in both price and spec - I'd be buggered if I decided I wanted to do more. Or would I?

We have a glass place in Bristol and they sell the bead cube https://www.creativeglassguild.co.uk...?cPath=617_631 (same price as in George's link - NOTE screen price doesnt include VAT) and it says in the more info that you can do fusing and PMC in it - doesn't mention enamelling though.
