    A good effort Julie, have you seen this posting on making a cab ring? ; http://www.cooksongold.com/forum/showthread.php?t=6295 ,it gives a few ideas on how I would have made your ring.

    Ah, this is really helpful - the solid ring filed flat to join is much better, for simplicity, neatness and sizing! Thank you!
