My wedding ring and eternity ring shanks are wearing thin, both have channel set diamonds set in a "v" on the front. Can I put on a new shank on both without taking the diamonds out, provided I put loads of heatproof gel on them.

If the shanks are made of gold, no problem Pat. If platinum, you need to mug up on it. Dennis.
One is 9ct the other is 18ct. Will it hurt the diamonds as on one ring they are almost half way around the shank. I have a pot of Thermogel ready and waiting, but dont want to damage the rings, or the diamonds. Was thinking about coming up with another design as I wear them both together all the time and of course they rub together.
It may depend on your speed of soldering (so not subjecting the diamonds to prolonged heat) and the quality of the diamonds, for example the more flaws the more likely they are to blow.........if unsure Pat, unset and reset .......I always tend to take the latter approach
and remember not to quench the ring after soldering
