Default Galleries - how long for stock

    Hi all,
How long would you be happy for a shop to hold stock of yours with no sales before you pulled it?
    Be interested to hear!
    Thanks, Lyd

Depends. What are sales on other items like, is the exposure beneficial - do you get work from the increased profile, that kind of thing?

I'd say a season. If nothing has sold in that time then it's the wrong gallery for you.

    Hello Lydia
I'm a gallery owner and I would say it depends where the gallery is located. I'm lucky to be on a high street so most of my artists have good exposure for their work. That said, if you're not getting any sales after, say, six months then it's not doing you or the gallery much good. Christmas is also a good time of year to test your work as, again, from my own experience, if it doesn't sell at Christmas then it's unlikely to sell for you.
    Hope that helps.
    Catherine
