I love that, the colours and the texture. Why wouldn't anyone want to wear fish?

When you say "adding sawdust for texture" how does that work? Is it attached to the piece for texture or do you mean sprinkled on the patina in the same way sprinkling salt on drying watercolour paint gives visual texture?
Well the patina on brass is achieved by painting on vinegar, sprinkling salt, and dripping on ammonia. I'm not sure the order matters.
The coarser the salt the more the liquids gather around it to create an uneven result, or texture.

In this case, I used ammonia soaked sawdust to give an even coarser result. It is done in a closed plastic box to avoid the fumes and took about three hours to develop.

Ultimately it was all washed away and dried before the lacquer was sprayed on.

Much to the disgust of my fellow students I suggested that used cat litter would do the same, as ammonia develops in it. Dennis.

best not eaten either, if you don't like things catching on your teeth, but on the other hand- might be good for some roughage?
