    Default Framed heart

It's a bit quiet here this weekend
So I thought I'd share a quick pic of a fairly recent piece. My daughter informed me that one of her teachers only likes red, so I needed to quickly produce an end of term gift incorporating a colour I barely ever use. I found in my stash this gorgeous lampwork bead by the incredibly talented Sam at Blackheart beads, and made a piece of kinetic jewellery by soldering some bits of scrap wire into a frame which, like the bead, spins freely on the headpin. Finished with hand dyed silk ribbons from Diane Turton at SowZere and a couple of my own lampwork spacers to create a toggle clasp.

(Apologies to anyone who's already seen this on my Flickr!)

Oh, I just love this. I like moveable pieces, things that spin on their axis and stuff. The finish is superb too. Lucky old teacher...

That's a great design George ~ the lampwork bead is beautiful and your unusual design sets it off nicely...it will be beautifully tactile from the movement of the pendant to the sensory delights of Diane's hand-dyed silk ribbon. Teach will love it!

I'm hoping for world peace but I'd also like something shiny as well...

I agree. That's gorgeous. Did the teacher deserve such a lovely gift? Do you really give gifts at the end of each term? Or did you mean end of year? My OH always says.. We never gave gifts when I was at school...
