I'd like to submit my entry - it is a jaguar brooch inspired by a Guatemalan Mayan mask. I've gone along with my husband several times to Guatemala where he volunteers with Helps International, (an organisation which sets up medical facilities to help the indigenous Mayan people). There is a market town I love called Chichicastenango and many villagers have stands selling handmade masks similar to this jaguar mask:

My jaguar is made primarily of silver with bits of copper and areas of Keum-boo. I realise since I'm still learning some of my work might take on a rustic look, but in this piece it is intentionally made to look rustic! Some areas have several layers of metal, if nothing else this was a great learning piece on soldering, what order to solder and types of solder. Most of the pieces are textured using a variety of new methods I just learned while making this piece. This is probably the most unusual thing I've made so far, I've yet to discover what my jewellery making "style" is!

Loving that jaguar brooch Sandra! I really like all the textures and mixed materials, it gives it great dimension, good job!

All lovely entries again this month and all very different. I don't usually like to pick a favourite but I do love the chameleon too, I think all the pattern is wonderful

    Default The Nest Ring

I just finished a six month project called Nest.
It is an interactive wall hanging, and part of the sculpture is a ring that I made that is removable.

A bird is an animal, right? I hope so, ha ha
Anyway, it's made out of titanium and gold and enamels and other things.
There is also a titanium spider, but even I know that a spider is not an animal but a creepy crawly.
Here is the ring in the flower of nest.

That's beautiful, the colours of the enamelling are so vibrant

Just checked back in here and things seem to have got a bit serious! The gorilla and the nest ring in particular really are a bit epic. Also liking that jaguar as always had a bit of a thing for mixed metal effects.
