    Default Asian silver

I have had an enquiry about changing a 4 finger ring into a necklace. The chap has described it as being made of 'asian silver'. I have no clue as to purity likelihood, so not sure how it will behave whilst being soldered. Anyone have any ideas please?

It probably won't behave as you would expect sterling to Lydia,......due to different alloys/ different silver purity.....I've found that 'asian silver' varies from one lot to another....has generally been doable though.

Thanks. Have decided not to take this one on - hallmarking issues as well.

Yes, "Asian" silver is quite often below Sterling standard, although "Asian" gold is very often very pure!

I attempted to solder some Asian silver once, it disappeared under the torch almost a soon as heat was applied, never again. :-)

You've both made me glad I didn't take this one on!
