Do they give any further info on whether these "traces" are an issue in any way? Results from my test piece appeared satisfactory from the visual marking, or rather lack thereof, point of view.

All you ever wanted to know about metal sensitivity. Almost anything applied to the skin can cause a reaction, e.g. act as an allergen for allergic contact dermatitis (ACD). Aluminium ACD is very rare, Nickel ACD very common - hence EU legislation to restrict nickel in jewellery.

Even gold can sensitise some people.

Not sure if I can post links as an occasional lurker, but scientific stuff is here:

    http://www.benthamscience.com/open/t...J/26TOCBMJ.pdf

Relevant quote" Ni, Co and Cr are the allergens with the highest occurrence, while Al, Au, Be, Cu, Hg, PGEs
    and Ti are emerging."

I think you are safe enough creating aluminium jewellery for forseeable future, and have a reasonable defence if rare case of ACD does occur in a customer.

    Regards
    Richard

Thanks everyone for the extra info, especially the ACD stuff. Have made a first attempt at an aluminium bracelet. Not great but good enough to keep working on the idea.

That's great SM......is it in 2 parts? i.e with the areas of metal showing through the three pierced 'windows'??

Thanks. All one piece; detail is put in with hammer and gravers.

Well what it is to be popular! Thanks everyone Have to confess it's not quite my first time out with engraving stuff but first time on anything like this. In answer to Caroleallen's question, it's not really specifically for anyone although it would more like suit a woman just due to it's overall dimensions. In fact it could ideally do with being a touch larger to give it slightly broader appeal.

I would think it has quite a masculine appeal.
