If only I could say myself Peter & Wallace........(I aspire too Wallace)!!

I use a professional stone setter in Birmingham's jewellery quarter, for most of my setting work, especially this very specialised work!!

Great job Tabby - I love the idea of the rings and you've made them beautifully.

Thanks all, I really enjoyed making both of them and each offered their own challenges!! The bling 18ct gold one has been delivered this evening and it was very well received and all very emotional!! The hare ring is yet to be delivered (but is more my usual style)!!

I like them both Tabby but I really like the so called 'BlingRing'
You should be really proud of it!
I do hope you get round to showing the start to finish photos. I'd love to learn more about remodelling and total rebuilds of older pieces, especially in gold.

Just say no Joking apart, the additional labour involved in removing stones, chopping out soldered sections and then reforming the remaining metal into usable stock is often non-viable. However... The sentimental value is another matter.

(An additional point - older/reclaimed stones are more often "antique" cut, or "wonky" as I would term them. They're more of a pest to set)

Thanks Peter - Always happy to learn about potential pitfalls of projects as well as the positives.
Currently I've only done a few small repairs and refinishing on peoples 'sentimental' items but who knows, someone one day may trust me to rejig an heirloom.
    As Tabby says ......'SCARY'!!!

The Bling-bling ring whilst ok, might have been better with a full spread of ruby/Sapp ( not my cup of tea either but...). Plus the grain work is lacking abit of finese..over polishing or just traditional style work maybe.

Just nitpicking abit. Small details don't matter to 99.9% of customers.
