Default Removing hot steel pans from kiln (metal clay)

Does anyone have any recommendations for safest way to remove hot steel pans from a kiln? I've been looking around at heat resistant gloves, but am not sure they are protecting enough e.g. if you wanted to remove a pan of bronze pieces straight away to quench . I've also looked at firing forks - I see there's one on this site but it (and others I've seen on other sites) don't specify the dimension of the fork end, so I don't know if they'll be suitable to remove a stainless steel firing pan safely from the kiln.

Are there any other tools that anyone uses to remove their pans safely?

Check out Kiln tongs on Google, there are many types that might suit you, like this type for sale on Amazon for £11, see; http://www.amazon.co.uk/T4J-Furnace-.../dp/B00B24333Y

Thanks very much for your reply Goldsmith. I wasn't sure that type of tong would work well lifting out a square pan, as it's designed for curved shapes. I'm looking for something suitable for a square pan.
