    Default magnetic platinum??

hi everyone, I've got an interesting one I'm hoping someone can help me with.

A previous customer has contacted me to say the platinum rings I made for him last year are slightly magnetic. He's not annoyed, but curious, and asked me why this is because he compared his and his wife's ring with someone else's, and found theirs was not magnetic.

These rings were cast after me carving the wax originals, but by two different casting companies (which makes it all the more strange). They've both been hallmarked, so clearly they contain the correct amount of platinum.

Any ideas why this might be? I can only assume they are made of an alloy that contains a magnetic material. Has anyone else come across this? It would be useful to have an answer if this pops up again!

    thanks lots!
