Ada, these lamps were the designs of a friend of mine, Edward D.Evans. We worked together in making various pairs of his table lamp designs.

Here is one shaped and assembled before enamelling, each shade had nine of the pierced panels.

Thank you James; it's fascinating to see the progression. You must have infinite patience to do all that piercing

I just checked my books and the time taken to mark out 18 panels, drill, pierce, file and shape them took me approx. 300 hours.
I took some progress photos when I made the flowers on the tops of the shades, you may be interested, sorry if I have posted them before.

The Knew Concept has a new convert. I can now saw in straight lines, something that I never managed with my previous sawframe. Very pleased with the purchase. Thank you to everyone who recommended them.

Does it really make that much of a difference? My piercing is poor to say the least (partly due to not enough practice, I'm sure) and if I thought a better saw frame would help, I'd go for it, but fear I might be like the apocryphal poor workman blaming my tools.

I get on really well with mine and it was an upgrade from the cheaper one I originally bought.

The only thing I think you need to look out for, is the barrel adjustment at one end of the saw if you haven't, like me, got the quick release version.

All you need to do when changing blades, is make sure that you've unscrewed it completely. Then insert the blade and tighten both ends, then tension the barrel adjustment accordingly.
