GF doesn't come particularly cheap by any means of purchase. It is expensive in the UK, but Bellore do have quite a good range. Palmer Metals also have some. It is much cheaper to purchase in the US, but then you have to pay the cost of postage and import charges on it. Six of one....

I'm hoping for world peace but I'd also like something shiny as well...

If you buy GF etc from the USA be aware that you will need to check compliance with the metal regs too (nickel, cadmium and -lead from october) otherwise it is illegal to sell items
You could consider vermeil instead. I have some stock and there are lots of other suppliers in the UK too

Rashbel in Tel Aviv are usually a good bet for gf, and it tends to arrive more quickly than from the US. They have a very comprehensive ebay shop.

    It's still not cheap though.

Doesn't the Gold tend to "rub off" with Vermeil?

It looks like buying from abroad is my best bet then.
    Thanks all.

I've not encountered a problem. I have a necklace I wear a lot and in four years the vermeil clasp is showing no signs of wear, even where it might be expected. It has to be decent quality vermeil, with a decent thickness of gold.
    Vermeil is all precious metal.
    Neither can be soldered.
I suppose that, if you are making to sell, it depends on your price point.
Gold fill is just a layer as well, after all.
