    what size would you advice? when i registered as a student had not clue so i ordered the 0.75mm but struggling to see the mark even using the loupe

    0.75mm is recommended for general jewellery use as it'll mark smaller things as well as the larger items. Small companies making jewellery tend to have 0.75mm and if they want larger sizes have the items laser marked. Larger (and wealthy) companies have many sponsor punches. It really does depend on what you're making. For example, if you generally only make rings and nothing much else then you could have a bit larger punch as your standard and laser smaller items, but if you're going to be making a wide variety and only have one punch then 0.75mm is the one. Do bear in mind that the measurement refers to the height of the punch and not the height of the mark. When striking the punch on the item the metal is pushed out and so the actual mark will be slightly larger.

    you don't need another punch at this stage....just use the laser for larger sizes
