"Tropical" South Sea Pearl
I am new to the forum, here is my effort: A "tropical" South Sea Pearl inclosed in a Silver and Rose gold sphere.
-
That's cute - was the cage welded or soldered with the pearl underwater?
-
no i carefully soldered the rose gold heart section back in place once pear was inside, i covered pearl in thermo gel and rested it on 2 toothpics so it wasnt touching the metal, then crossed my fingers and prayed
-
Very pretty. I have to say that with all that work, I do think it deserves a prettier bail and chain

Not many entries this month!
So how about a tropical bird, this is a bird of paradise and stands 230mm. high. The bird, flowers and leaves were all hand shaped by me from 0.70mm. thick 18ct. sheet, the colours are all hard fired enamels, the bird has saw pierced and plique a-jour enamelled tail feathers and it's eyes are set with cab rubies, the flower stamens are set with diamonds and the whole piece is mounted on a polished slab of rock crystal. I did not do the enamelling on this job, just the goldsmithing.

What a beautiful example of goldsmithing that bird of paradise is!

Stunning as always James.
Love the little heart cage as well.
I love the themes each month - great for getting ideas flowing - just wish I had more time to make new things!
