Smile Need help with polishing problems !

    Everyone,

I am trying to polish up one of my pieces.

I started first by removing burrs from my piece with coarse sand paper up to 2000.

Then I went onto my polishing motor with a calico mop with some rouge.

The piece now looks dark silver (Oxidised)

How do I remove this oxidised colour and still keep the polished finished at the same time.

I want my piece to go back to the normal silver colour but still keep its polish from polishing it...

Look forward to your help everyone !

    Sophie

Sophie, try first polishing with a bristle mop, see;http://www.cooksongold.com/Jewellery...prcode-999-CAH
using Tripoli Lustre polish compound or something equivalent, see;http://www.cooksongold.com/Jewellery...prcode-998-198
Then final polish with a soft mop and rouge.

The dark colour may just be residue from the rouge. Have you given the piece a good clean in an ultrasonic or with hot soapy water?

Same thing happened to me with the first piece I polished. Soft baby toothbrush with soap soon brought it off.
