Talking Which side of the fence are you on?

Over the years doing 'arty' courses in college I have discovered that nothing 'puts the cat amongst the pigeons' as readily as asking people if they prefer Art Nouveau or Art Deco. Of course - there are some people who like both - and others who see the link between them...but generally people seem to fall one side of the fence or the other.... and cannot or will not see the other point of view... (Perhaps they all just wanted a right ol' barney!!)

Anyway - just thought I would release the proverbial CAT!!....

Feel free to widen the discussion into art styles and periods in general.....

Art Deco for me! I also like the Ancient Egyptian influence that came in during the 1920s.

I'm a Nouveau fan mainly for the curvy lines - here's a blog post that shows why
    http://beardsandbarnacles.blogspot.c...t-nouveau.html
however I do love elements of Art Deco Design -
The use of vibrant colours....and the sheer SCALE of things!

Plus who couldn't love theis "sassier" depiction of ladies! The Nouveau gals can be a bit "Oooh Mr Knight pleeese rescue me!!!"

I have always loved Art Nouveau, and I have grown to love Art Deco too (a few years ago I probably would have argued about how hideous I though it was)

I particularly like the Art Nouveau advertisments and Art Deco furniture. I'd love to have the money to fill my house with proper furniture!
