    Default New pieces

I've made a couple of new pieces which were a present for my sister. I made a pair of studs by experimenting with molten silver and I made a simple cabachon set ring using a 4mm lapis lazuli. Im very new to jewellery making and have only done a few stone settings. can anyone give me some advice on how to clean up the top of the stone setting walls? I always get an uneven finish but Im nervous to clean up the lip in case of damaging the stone. Here is a link to the pieces http://jonlendrum.blogspot.co.uk/201...er-in-law.html

I use a No.6 needle file to finish off around the stones, but carefully, or a fine Eveflex on a pendant motor, I use the pointed one for it but you have to be careful as they can chop away more than you want, just remember to keep it moving.
