    Default Christmas decoration

One of the things we've been asked to do for the Hilliers exhibition is some Christmas tree decorations.

    Here's one from me:

A slightly cartoony snowflake, about 75mm across - licence-free clipart found with Google, printed out & glued onto 1.2mm gilding metal. Sawn out using 4/0 blades; I misjudged the time it would take me to cut by about a factor of 2 (and I broke 3 blades, grr). As my wee brother pointed out, snowflakes are kind of known for their fractal nature, so I should have anticipated the increase. No cleanup on the edges and tumble polished for a couple of hours.

My fellow exhibitors initially thought it was laser cut. Now they just think I'm mad for piercing it, so I suppose that's in keeping.

    Beautiful Peter

My current task is to practise piercing so I can appreciate the work that went into that!

I think it was about 1 1/2 hours in the end. Zoned out, just concentrating on the cutting - it becomes almost meditative with something like that.

Hmph, it was *supposed* to look a little more obviously handmade!
