My favourite jewellery technique is wire wrapping. I've started making jewellery nearly year ago and after few lessons for beginners I've had discovered wire wrapping. I was amazed by it, I couldn't believed that you can make such a beautiful jewellery just by using stones or beads and wire. I was desperate to learn that technique and I've spend hours looking for videos, books and any articles "how to". I've manage to find few of those and slowly I've started to do more and more pieces with that technique.
I wanted to show you one of my wire wrapped pendants. The pendant is made from :
rose Quartz 25mm round flat back gemstone cabochon
silver plated square and circle wire (0.8mm)
    coloured copper ( pink ) (0.3mm)
    2,5" long and 1,5" wide

Babette - that is lovely - reminds me of an uncurling jelly fish (in a very good way!).

Yes that really is lovely! I have been trying wire wrapping and love it too, but not done anything as intricate as that so far! Fab )

That wire wrapping is full of life and colour Babette, very pretty. It's not a technique I've tried. It looks very complicated and requiring much patience :-)

My addiction to jewellery making started only 2 months ago, when a beaded bracelet broke and I decided to look on-line and see if I could find some elastic thread so I could fix it. While searching for that I came across all sorts of lovely beads and other jewellery supplies and it was like a lightbulb going on in my head! Avid reading of books and internet searching have given me access to lots of different jewellery making techniques and although I started with just simple beading projects, about a month after my lightbulb moment I came across wirework and wire wrapping and loved the possibilities it offered. The attached cuff bracelet was my first attempt at a wirework piece and it took me the best part of a day to figure out how to put it all together! I used 1mm silver plated copper wire for the frame and then wrapped it in 0.4mm silver plated wire. Spirals were made from 0.8mm silver plated wire and then wrapped onto the frame. Silver beads and glass beads in two shades of blue were then added in. I planned for it to be an open cuff bracelet but it didn't really stay on, so ended up making a neat clasp to secure it. The hardest part (and something I still find challenging) is making sure all the wire ends are tucked away out of harm's way .. any tips on this would be much appreciated!

Jamjar your bracelet is stunning!!!! I really like it!
If you are mainly working with wire I would advise you to buy yourself needle files set, they are different shapes. It is time consuming but you will know for sure that the wire will not hurt your customers. Although you have to be very careful with silver plated wire, if you are not doing it right you will end up with ends of the wire with different colour.
