    Default kjsspot says hi

Hey y'all! I'm new to the forum. I have a lapidary interest, primarily cutting opals, so I really need to figure out the setting side as well. So far I've totally bombed at soldering silver but I'm still working at it. Wire wrapping is OK but not really my style. Some of them I like, but again, those are out of my skill range so far.

So for now I'll be browsing the forums and doing a lot of reading. Here's a couple of my recent works. The ring setting was purchased, not created. I just cut the opal from the rough and set it.

ETA: The pendant is Dino Bone and the ring is Lightning Ridge Black Opal.

Welcome Jackie. My favourite is boulder opal, with the glittery bits protruding from a sandy background. In recent years they have taken to polishing them smooth, so spoiling the whole thing. Dennis.
