    Default Advice on bezels

    Hello

I am just about to send the necessary to the assay office to register with them so that I can get my work hallmarked. I am aware that they are particularly stringent on the quality of materials that can be used but have a question regarding this being a novice.

What type of bezel wire can I use on a piece that I want to be hallmarked as Sterling Silver. Everywhere I've looked so far I can only find fine silver bezel wire. Is this appropriate to use on a hallmarked piece or do I need to find sterling silver bezel wire?

    Thanks for your help!

Fine silver is much easier to use for bezels, especially when you're starting out, and as it is above the 925 standard, there's no problem with having your finished piece hallmarked as sterling.

And while you're at it, consider cutting your own from 0.4mm fine silver sheet. It will reduce waste and be easier to handle. Dennis.
