    Default No-longer-orphaned earrings

I managed to make a new mate for my orphaned earring and actually got some photos this time! The twigs were inspired by the work of Annealed Heart on Etsy, who has some wonderful twig jewellery. They were described as being fused sterling, so I thought I'd have a go at melting some wire. To my surprise, it came out rather well. Never been a huge fan of smoky quartz, but I really like the colour and the interesting cut of these.

I'm still thinking about oxidising them - any opinions?

good you managed to sort it out. Oxidising sounds fun. It could be you have both some dark and some shiny and see how that works.

another yes to oxidising - I think it would give the twigs a more twiggy texture (yeah yeah, it sounds stupid but I know what I mean!)

I'll vote no to oxidizing, I think the silver provides contrast to smoky quartz. Just my humble opinion, that said you could polish the again if it don't work out

I'm with Julian on this no to the oxidising.

I do like the twiggy effect though. when I have made twigs I have done them in PMC from a mould but your way is excellent, just tried it and it works real well.

Heh, it's nice to see that the hive mind is just as indecisive as my own. Di and Julian, those are my conflicting thoughts exactly.

Kwant, it's amazing, isn't it? I was gobsmacked that twisting two bits of wire and then melting them could make such twiggy-looking twigs. This piece (not mine, I wish!) is in another league, though.

Another no to oxidising - I'd just let it happen naturally.

    Nice twigs

Oh, wow! Isn't that just beautiful. I see it's oxidised though (over the top clearing of throat here )
