    Default Stainless Steel

Has anyone used Stainless Steel instead of Silver?

I have been wondering how it is to work with so far I have only worked with Gold Silver and platinum, it seems to be a good product and a lot of rings are made of it now a days.

Just wanting to get others thoughts on this product.

It work hardens quickly so, if you are thinking of making rings from wire you will need a ring shank bending tool. It can be soldered with silver solder and Tenacity No5 and has been recommended for tension settings.

Should you be thinking of castings, then I would suggest you research chrome cobalt alloys as used by dental laboratories. In fact you might find a specialist dental laboratory to do the casting for you.

Sorry that's pretty elementary and you probably know that much already. Dennis

Stainless steel is made of the using chromium. The least amount of chromium utilized for making stainless steel. This may be a very thin layer and this is also used to make crockery for the home use as well as restaurant use.

Getting grumpy in my old age... I decided I've not got the patience to wait for the seemingly inevitable spam links.

Ah, but it was so true and indeed they are taking their time a little more these days it would seem.

I do grumpy and then some. My pet hate is people who ask questions, but never return to acknowledge the answers. Dennis.

I have been grumpy for a few days, I have had a bad week, first my back door lock busted so I fitted a new one, then someone nicked my spare wheel from under my VW Shuttle on Tuesday and it cost me over £200 for a new one.
Still I got my February prize vouchers from Cooksons (thanks once again) and spent the lot on chains and earings for my daughter.

Oh dear James. We had 3 premium bond wins this week. Each envelope was opened with great anticipation but was only £25. Still, £75 is not to be sneezed at. Talking of sneezing, I still am 3 weeks after picking up a virus on holiday.
