    Default Genesis of an Idea

I thought it might help the other beginners amongst us if I documented my progress with this idea that has been keeping me awake at night! I am starting work on it today.

So - my thoughts are based around a local beach; Putsborough. I've been playing with colour, now I want to add shape into the mix, whilst at the same time working in a new (for me) discipline - PMC.

Here's the picture I'm working from. Strangely, I took this photo long before we moved to live here. We lived just outside Luton at the time and I would look at this image and plan my life in Devon. I got the life in Devon, just not the chocolate box one I had so fondly imagined My next move is to trace this onto template paper and play around with the shapes; always bearing in mind things like connections and findings.

Fab idea there's so much you can take from that picture. Working with PMC is good too. It lends itself to mixed media so well you can create almost anything you can imagine, can't wait to see what you come up with.

Well, I didn't get to play yesterday as number one son came home - together with his washing

This morning though I started to play with ideas for my first silver clay piece. I'm intent on using colour but I thought perhaps that I should learn to walk before I run a marathon, so I'm starting simple.

Anyway, here are some pics of the work soon to be in progress. I have enough ideas for at least four pieces before I even start thinking about colour. I am thinking about adding a touch of gold though, thin lines just for the curves. Not sure how to go about that - can't afford gold clay atm. Have some gold leaf though. Will think on.

This is just the start - there's so much potential in this photograph that its scary!

Ooh that is shaping up to be very interesting indeed. I love seeing how people use natural inspiration for designs, they somehow feel very soulful!

I'm sure I read somewhere that you can use a gold glaze on PMC or how about using crushed mineal accents, I think the man made ones an be fired in situ, they can give the most wonderful effect.

Cheers Annie - will check those out. There is so much mileage in just that one picture. I've almost filled my journal, which has been on the go for years!
