    Default Another Newbie

    Hello Everyone,

Thought I'd better post in this thread as I've already answered someone in another thread.

I've always had an interest in jewellery making and used to do a bit of enamelling and a bit of metal smithing when I was younger but with metal clay coming along I can now see ways of making more of my designs. My ultimate aim is to sell my own jewellery. I've got a few questions already (some of which may seem a bit odd) but bare with me.

I'd like to re-kindle my interest in enamelling as well, I'm assuming you can enamel Metal Clay?

I'm currently living in West Wales which provides some of my inspiration.

    Regards,

    Steve.

    hi there and welcome

yes you can enamel PMC, but it really helps if you can somehow burnish the surface first.

You either need to burnish the surface, or even better is to tumble it in one of those tiny vibrating tumblers with very small shot. This is because metal clay, like castings finish with a porous surface. If it is thoroughly burnished it will result in bubbles and possibly the enamel 'pinging' off.
