    Whats the best thickness of silver wire to use for these please - I know its a noob question - but we've all got to start somewhere

    You can use any thickness you like, but need to keep the clasp in proportion to the wire or it will be too weak. For example, I wouldn't go longer than a 15mm finished lehgth with 1.0mm wire, and always I always forge the curves a little. I mostly make them from 1.3 or 1.5mm wire and around 20mm long (or less). I always think it looks good to use the same wire gauge as the body of the piece for entirely wireworked stuff if possible.

    Yep I agree with mizgeorge, I decide at the time given the weight of the item and of course hammering and tumbling the clasp will make it work hardened also which adds to it's strength
