Great extra info Laura thank you, I had no idea it was called Kings pattern, and have included that info in my descriptions. Interestingly the piece I chopped up was marked leopard head, London, Victoria head, duty (abolished in 1890) and date letter e for 1860, makers mark I could not identify but looked like a fancy lower case e f into a heart.

I've been working with silver-plated spoons for a little while as they are so much cheaper than the sterling silver. This is one I've just finished that has taken me ages!!

... and finally using the little space that as Wallace said was ripe for a stone (though not one of my opals, they are MINE) a not quite exact matched pair of flush set chrome diopsides. Might need to change out the suspension rings as they look a bit clunky, chop them off and drill maybe.

How did you set those stones? are the supported at the back ?

The silver is quite thick 2mm so I drilled through smaller than the stone, then cut a seat with a stone setting burr, undercut the edges then rubbed them down to fix the stones in.
