Thank you all so much :-)

I managed one whole day (Tuesday) of being self employed and got myself hospitalised on Wednesday with diabetic ketoacidosis! Still languishing on the high dependency unit and expect to be here until well into next week. Apparently I very nearly lost my breathing priveliges in a terminal way so I'm just grateful to be alive right now.

Anyone know if I can claim statutory sick pay? Hehehe.

Goodgrief! Hope you are okay - probably in a good place to make sure you stay with the ability to keep on breathing!

Stat sick pay as fars as I remember, if your National insurance contributions are upto scratch, you shouldn't have a problem. You will need, however, to complete the form SC1 and give it to the Jobcentre plus. You can claim Employment and Support Allowance at the point of becoming ill.

    hope you are better soon
