    Yes Peter something like that. I thought it very impressive at the time but evidently not impressive enough for me to remember what it was he was doing.Oh wait yes that was it he put a rod in the tube and pulled against the draw plate umm well yes you are right it was making spiral tube.

    Anyways he was using the draw plate to stop the tube and exert the pressure at the same time, ha sometimes I am a complete flake I know. I know what I mean :0)

    I hold to these inalienable truths;
    bullion belongs in workshops,

    Just quoting the black book, that said I would think getting the darn stuff out woud be a nightmare. I have also heard of copper wire being used.

    Sorry, just my idea of a joke.

    Yes I use mainly snake chain, or cable for my pendants, so I use copper wire routinely to bend up curved bails from small silver tubes. A metre of earthing cable costs less than two pounds in my local electrical shop and provides seven strands of 1.6mm wire. It lasts for ever and can be drawn down as needed.

    Thank you all SO much, I have managed to make one with the copper wire so will now buy some silver wire in maybe 2.5mm or 3mm and give it a go. Cheers

    I'm interested in how this turns out because I've been toying with the idea of making silver rope to knot into a bangle, but one which is enclosed.

    Thanks SO much for all your ideas which enabled me to get the confidence to have a go. Really pleased with the second attempt. Used 2.5mm wire and took it VERY slowly. Thanks again!

    That looks nice and clean, the knot looks nicely snugged up. Now... How about 5mm?
