    Default The Market Trader.

It started off pretty cold and grey in London today, so I hope those away on holiday are faring better. If there is still anyone at home, here is my story of how I got to work in a market...
One day while walking through our local market I heard a voice: ‘Excuse me!’ It was a lady with a little stall, well just a trestle table, behind which she sat. On it were a few items of second hand jewellery. I hate these, because I immediately think of the people who once owned them, maybe now dead. ‘Excuse me,’ she said, ‘but I’m dying to go to the loo, would you look after my stall for ten minutes?’ Well what could I say? I was not in a hurry so I agreed and sat on her folding stool.
People passed by with never a glance and after a while the lady returned with a contented smile. I had not been arrested for illegal trading. She is still there sometimes, but she does not recognise me now. Dennis.

I shall now read all of your posts with an east-end-barrow-boy cock-a-knee accent in mind...

Thank you nic, I've never been an uncle. Born during the great depression, when young couples had to economise even in children, I was the only one.
I never found out what was so great about that depression. D.

You should have shouted out " Come on darlin!! get your old man some tom,it's luvly!!"
I did jewellery repairs from a stall for a few months. The wind lifted the stall up two foot before i grabbed it and pulled it down. The clothes stalls had plenty of weight holding them down.
Then it got so cold in November ,my hands couldn't squeeze the tweezers together. I then progressed to a converted Burger van type thing (it sold falafels actually, and was filthy when i got it!!).
Damn!! It was before everyone had a mobile phones with a cameras.I never bothered getting film for the camera and taking a pic of it!!
