Silver Crocodile Clips for Tie Slides

Hello,

I'm not sure I'm using the right terminology but I'm looking for a silver crocodile type clips for attaching to the back of tie slides, the ones that have a springy bit and chompy teeth rather than the bendy metal ones like the ones I can find from Cooksons

Any help or clues gratefully received.

I've made a few tie slides and the way I have done them is work hardened a long length of silver and folded it ih half lengthways, if that makes any sense. My Dad wears his constantly and his tie never slips out/clip never slips down.

(not actually mine, but this is basically how it looks done - didn't have a pic of mine )

Cooksons does these though it might be a costly option as they're full tie clips

If I were pushed to make just one or two, I would get crocodile style hair grips in chemists such as Boots or Superdrug and modify the design in silver. Then I would cannibalise the spring and rivet it in. Mind you I spend days haunting the stores for ideas and it's just a matter of time before I get picked up on suspicion. Hope you get it done, Dennis.

Since writing the above I have been on my afternoon walk and went into Boots. They have black rubber 'sectioning clips', meant for hair treatments, which would not be challenging to copy and the springs look good too. For extra grip you could put an egg tooth on the end of the beak, D.

Might have to go down the cannabalising a 'sectioning clip's' spring and copying the clips style as suggested by Dennis, I hadn't thought of swipping the spring from something that already exists

I think it's going to need a chompy teethed fitting as the main body of the piece is going to be reasonably heavy and I think it might slip on the tie if we go down another route.
