    Default Seat check powder

Does anyone know of a UK source for this stuff? I believe some dentists use it, so it's not limited to jewellery use - but I haven't found one who knows about it.

Talc sort-of works (as does studying the setting for burnish marks), but I'd really like to try the colour-changing stuff.

    Hi Peter,
Chaperlain & Jacobs, 020 8641 2635, supply dental technicians. They list an airosol for this purpose which sprays a green powder, 'Hanel Okklu-top spray'. They also have occlusal test foil on a roll which is like a very thin carbon paper. Red is the less messy. They also sell Contex, a carbon based antiflux and lots of interesting burrs. If you can get their catalogue you will enjoy it, but as they are selling to a wealthier craft they are a bit expensive.
    Kind regards, Dennis.

    Fantastic Dennis, many thanks.

You spray the stuff onto a setting, trial fit the stone in the setting and where the setting contacts the stone the powder burnishes to a darker colour, allowing you to remove high spots. I usually look at the burnish marks on the setting from trying to rock the stone, I just fancied trying this stuff instead (or as well).
