Glass Clay!

I may be late to the party with this, but I've just stumbled on a product called 'Glass Clay' or to give it's proper brand name 'GlasClay' produced by ClayMania.

GlasClay consists of fine particles of glass suspended in a water-soluble binder, you buy it as a powder and reconstitute it with water, you then work it like clay, shape it, cut and/or texture it, leave it to dry and then fire it in a kiln... the result is a piece of glass! It comes in different colours based on the glasses of Bullseye and Oruboros all of which are COE90. More details can be found here.

Could be quite interesting for those wanting to create more 3-dimensional work in glass.

Has anyone seen/used this product yet?

Can you torch fire this?

Wheely, I'm afraid you can't torch fire GlasClay. According to the UK distributor site the clay has to be fired in a kiln with a digital programmable controller, because it needs multiple firing segments at different temperatures.

bear in mind this is about Kaiser's own DIY glass clay, not the product mentioned above. There is also the option of freeze n fuse techniques for similar effects to those achieved by glass clay.

Has anyone seen anything nice done with GlasClay yet?

George, Nic mentioned that Petra at silverclay.co.uk is selling GlasClay. I've also seen that they have a Facebook page (Metal Clay Ltd) showing some of their tests so far.

Thanks Vi, I know who's got it, I'm just curious to see if anyone makes anything good with it - I've not seen anything that looked even remotely exciting yet.
