Default A quick question about Cooksons Fine Silver

    Hi,

Just a quick question regarding your fine silver wire and sheet. Is this Silver .999 (99.9%) ? Or even better .9999?

I know this probably sounds like a bit of a silly question but I just wish to make sure, I did try searching the knowledge base, but the only thing I could confirm that was 99.9% was the fine silver bullion.

    Many thanks

    Arthren.

999 is code for fine silver, but if you dial it have your story ready. D.

I would appreciate an official response from Cooksons, as its for a scientific experiment and I require pure 99.9% fine silver wire, its just to be on the safe side. Anything lower than 99.9% just won't be good enough for what I require. I've already got the wire from Cooksons as I use it for my jewellery crafting, but until they tell me the purity I can't use this in my experiment.

I understand that fine silver should be 999/99.9% etc but confirmation of this would be nice

    Many thanks

I'm intrigued... The usual standard for analytical grade is 99% purity; 99.9% is 1 part per thousand (so 1 gram per kg), while you're asking for 1 part per 10 thousand. Wouldn't you be better off with guaranteed CP if you need those levels?

Chemically Pure - fully traceable and documented. Hopefully
It also gets used as an abbreviation for Commercially Pure, particularly with titanium.

    Thankyou for the help
