    Default Hello from Eastbourne too!

    Hi
I am Carol and live in Eastbourne, I have had the jewellery making bug for about 6 months now as opposed to just wearing it! I picked up a Jewellery making mag last year and it has grown from there
I have not tried any silverwork yet although it is in my plans and do have the bits required ready. I do not have a very good imagination so I am still waiting for that inspiration. It will get here eventually!
Apart from lack of imagination, my other problkem is lack of time as I commute to London daily and this leaves little time spare but I do try and make the most of what time i do have.
I need to photograph some of my pieces so that I can post them. I have done stringing, beadwork, loom work, bead bezel making and wirework.
Hope to find inspiration here without copying of course.
Is it okay to take another's design and adapt it? Or is that just not done? I should hate to upset anyone. If I make something from a magazine it is never quite as described in the mag I always try to use different beads or colourways.

Hi Carol and welcome. Of course it's okay to take ideas from others and make them your own. You'll find that the more work you do the more of your own signature style you develop anyway - then others will be copying you!

    Hello Carol and
As far as design goes- if you know where your inspiration has come from its best to say. I say something like, "Inspired by the work of .... "
Have fun playing and get stuck in!

    Hi Carol
to the forum, I'm sure you'll find plenty of help and ideas here
I still have my first "design book" and make more as I go along, there are magazine clippings
nature pics, scraps of fabric all kinds of inspirational ideas.
Maybe that would help with sparking ideas for you too? (If you haven't already got one, lol)

Hi Carol, welcome to the forum. Like Nic says get yourself a little sketch pad to take around with you so you can jot things down that your like and get you thinking. I always forget to take mine with me and end up with copious amounts of post-its with scribbles all over them in my bag!!!
