How long is a piece of string?
You can make jumprings with any wire really.

Default Size of wire for jump rings

Suggest you get some 1mm round wire and a draw plate. Also a cheap packet of twist drills, sizes 1.5 to 6 mm. Then you can draw down various thicknesses of wire and make jump rings using the drill shanks as mandrells. This way you can decide what you find most suitable.
Generally the smaller the jumpring the thinner the wire. Keep all you have made in a small parts box. You will be delighted to have spares later.
    Kind regards , Dennis.

If it's for things like pendant links then a 1.2mm wire wrapped on a 5 or 6mm mandrel works well for me
