I don't think I have got my copy yet grrr. I did these a few weeks ago. The first time I tried it I didn't anneal enough and they wouldn't open. I was afraid of heating them too much and fusing the sides together lol.

After hammering they are a crescent moon shape, and then I opened them, annealed etc, then twisted the top one way and the bottom the other way with my fingers.

Yes! I did them together; cut both, hammered both, etc making sure they were the same at each stage, and they still aren't absolutely perfectly matched because they are 'made by hand' (lol, my excuse)
