    Default Hallmarking questions

I''m thinking I'm going to have to get my pieces hallmarked as they are mostly over 7.78g.
I have a couple of questions............

Once you have paint the initial £70 and £60 to get the punch and register how much do they charge per item?

How do you post your items?

Do get the hallmarking is done before setting cabochons?

I just took some pieces out of the NG tumbler and they look great, i'm really tempted to set the cabs but maybe I should wait

Hi, there are a number of threads on the forum about hallmarking if you want to do a search.

In trying to answer your questions now (from my one experience of sending one lot of work off).

1 - Depends on the office and the number of items sent in each package and the combination of marks you want done

2 - I've posted my one item 'special' I think it was - some insurance cover but not masses

3 - The Edinburgh office prefers unfinished work but will accept finished work if you send it

The best thing to do is decide which office you want to use and phone them for advice.

    Hope this helps.

I use Birmingham and I'm very happy with them.

Your best bet is to give Lin Moran at the Assay Office a call and she'll talk you through everything.
